My interest in…
I think that reincarnation is a fascinating idea or philosophy. To come back to earth for a second life time as an animal is pretty amazing. I always said that if I were to be reincarnated as an animal, I would want to be something that doesn’t end up in zoos or anything like that.
My difficulty with…
If people are reincarnated after they die, as animals are they aware of what they once were? Do they have human mentalities with animal limitations or are they innocent creatures?
I found this written on notebook paper in my trash folded like a secret note. The kind of note you’d pass to your boyfriend or girlfriend back in school. I’m nosey so I couldn’t resist but to open it up and see what it contained. After all it was on the very top of the trash pile, clean, and it was discarded of which gives me the parental right to investigate :).
My son had written this for his college english class but I couldn’t understand why it had not been graded or discarded of.
Anyway, it got me thinking about the subject a little. I remember there was a time early in my life that I wondered about reincarnation. During this time as a Christians (7th Day Adventist) it wasn’t something to even give a passing thought to as compared to what Christian beliefs taught. Christians basically believe that when we die we go to heaven to be with God.
It was foolish consider any other possibility. What reincarnation offered particularly in the imagination of a child is a whole host of possibilities.
I mean I could be reincarnated as a very powerful animal. Maybe a hippopotamus, or an elephant, or a tiger perhaps. But more importantly the possibility that reincarnation offers is possibly coming back as a member of royalty like that of England. Perhaps even as one of the richest people in the world!
As I further consider what the implications of reincarnation offer, I wonder if I did in fact return as another human being, would it be possible that I would live in another part of the world with an unfamiliar culture and surroundings? The very thought of that is both exciting and disconcerting. I suppose that this would only be a concern IF reincarnation maintains in the new body and mind knowledge of your past.
Although today I no longer subscribe to any religious beliefs, I still often wonder about the unknown things concerning “the afterlife”. It is rather difficult for me at least, to accept a philosophy that is not proven. This is not to say that I haven’t any respect for religions and those that follow them as a whole. Quite to contrary as I was one a follower or more commonly known, a believer.
As it turns out, this was not a formal assignment for my son. It was an impromptu in class exercise. Luckily for me, it was very thought provoking and I really enjoyed it.
I suppose that there could be no harm in wondering about the many fascinating things concerning life as a whole.
Love to hear your thoughts on the subject. Please leave your thoughts in the comments below.
